Edinburgh's fibre coverage is deep enough that the exceptions become the story. Across 27 outward codes, full fibre and gigabit availability both sit at 92.3%, and superfast coverage runs at 97.7%, ahead of the national norm. EH99 and EH18 record full fibre at every postcode, and EH15 is nearly there at 97.4%.

The places still catching up are specific rather than scattered. EH22 records no full fibre at all, EH52 covers around four postcodes in ten, and EH27 nearly six in ten. Those three codes carry most of the gap between the city's 92.3% and full coverage. For a city of 13,123 postcodes that is a short list of laggards. The practical upshot is simple. In most of Edinburgh a full fibre package can be ordered today, and the question is which provider, not whether the technology has arrived.

A 92.3% full fibre footprint changes what households should expect from the market. In most of the city, multiple people can stream, game and work from home on one connection without compromise, and comparing deals is a pricing exercise. The exceptions concentrate in EH22, EH52 and EH27, where coverage ranges from none to about six in ten postcodes. Anyone moving within Edinburgh who relies on top speeds should treat those three codes differently from the other 24.
