What fibre exists clusters in the TA codes: TA22 reaches 75.4 per cent of its postcodes, with TA4 and TA21 both around a third. The figure with the most practical bite is the 13.3 per cent of postcodes below 10 Mbps, well over one in eight, where basic streaming is a struggle. Eleven outward codes make up the district, and the difference between drawing TA22 and drawing an EX code is enormous.

Households considering a move here should invert the usual question. Rather than asking how fast the connection can go, ask whether it clears 10 Mbps at all, since 13.3 per cent of postcodes do not. TA22 is the bright spot, with three quarters of its postcodes able to order fibre. Elsewhere the realistic range runs from adequate superfast down to lines that rule out home working. A check against the exact postcode settles more than any district average can.
