Broadband in Doncaster

On the broad measures Doncaster performs well. Superfast coverage reaches 97.7% of its 7,888 postcodes, marginally ahead of the UK norm of about 97 per cent, and 92.3% are gigabit-capable. Lines below 10Mbps account for 0.8%, fewer than one postcode in a hundred.

Full fibre is where the numbers turn lopsided. The area-wide figure is 8.9%, far beneath the national average of roughly 69 per cent of premises passed, yet S65 records fibre at every one of its listed postcodes and S64 comes very close. S66 manages just over a quarter. At the bottom of the table, DN1, DN10 and DN11 record no fibre at all. Seventeen outward codes contribute to this page, so the single average carries less weight than usual: the S-prefixed codes and the DN codes show very different fibre records.

With gigabit coverage above nine in ten postcodes, most Doncaster households will find fast options regardless of the fibre picture. The 8.9% fibre figure matters mainly to buyers set on fibre to the premises specifically, for whom the outward code is decisive: near-universal in S65, unrecorded in DN1, DN10 and DN11. Slow lines, at 0.8% of postcodes, are a marginal concern.
