Broadband in North East Derbyshire

Fibre coverage of 78.2% puts North East Derbyshire ahead of the national level of roughly seven premises in ten passed. The spread within the district is what deserves attention. S40 records full fibre in every postcode, with S41 and S42 close behind at nearly nine in ten, while DE4, DE55 and S17 show none at all in this data.

District-wide, gigabit availability sits at 79% of postcodes and superfast at 93.7%, the latter a few points under the national norm of about 97 per cent. The below-10Mbps share is a modest 1.2%. Across 2,723 postcodes and thirteen outward codes, then, the broad picture is strong with sharply defined weak patches. A postcode in S40 and a postcode in DE55 sit in the same district yet face entirely different fibre markets, which makes the outward code matter as much as the district average here.

For households, the fibre split is the practical dividing line. In S40, S41 and S42, full fibre packages can be assumed and compared on price. In DE4, DE55 and S17 the recorded choice is thinner, though superfast speeds still cover most everyday use. With only 1.2% of postcodes below 10Mbps, genuinely poor connections are uncommon on either side of that divide.
