With only five outward codes in play, the gap between the two halves matters more here than in larger areas, because a single code can account for a big slice of the total. Superfast remains a serviceable baseline for the postcodes still waiting on something quicker.

Scale changes what these percentages mean. With 88 postcodes in total, the 0.1% below-10 Mbps share amounts to virtually nothing, and the 96.5% superfast figure leaves only a handful of locations without a decent baseline. Households therefore choose between a superfast service, available almost everywhere, and a gigabit-capable one, available at about half of postcodes. For most everyday use the former is enough. Heavy uploaders and remote workers on the wrong side of the gigabit line have less room to upgrade.
