Broadband in Chesterfield

Chesterfield's fibre numbers read better than most of the country's. Full fibre is recorded at 86.4% of postcodes, comfortably above the UK's roughly 69 per cent of premises passed, and gigabit availability matches it exactly at 86.4%. Superfast coverage is broader still at 98.7%, ahead of the national norm.

Even the weaker end of the table is respectable. S42 records full fibre at every postcode, with S43 and S40 both close to nine in ten. Among the lagging codes, S41 still manages 85%, which says a lot about how high the floor is here. The genuine gaps are narrower: S21 records no full fibre at all, and S44 sits at 14.8%, roughly one postcode in seven. So the district splits into a large, well-fibred majority spread over most of its six outward codes and two clear catch-up zones. For most Chesterfield households, full fibre is not a future promise but a current option.

With 86.4% of postcodes able to take full fibre and superfast at 98.7%, the speed mix favours the buyer in most of Chesterfield. Households in S42, S43, S40 or S41 can shop the full range of packages and let price decide. The calculation is different in S21 and S44, where fibre coverage is zero and 14.8% respectively, and where the superfast layer is doing the work instead. Two postcodes a short distance apart can face very different shortlists.
